Last year this time we took Leyla to the beach and she hated it! She didn't like the feeling of the sand in between her toes and she was afraid of the sound of crashing waves. We must have lasted 30 minutes tops last year before we finally gave in and left. This year was a totally different experience. We decided to go to a smaller beach out in Mamaroneck, NY. We didn't want to overwhelm her, so this beach was perfect. It even has a tiny little sprinkler park for the kids. At first she was hesitant to even walk in the sand but I took off her jellies and we went full charge running into the sand. Success! She couldn't get enough of it. She kept asking her dad to bury her legs! Between playing in the sand and running through the sprinklers she had a great time. She is still afraid of the water but it's definitely a improvement from last year. Anyone's kids afraid of the ocean? What did you do to make it easier for them? Love to read your comments.
For today's outfit she wore a set by Frances Johnston for Simi. This is another vintage find of mine for $26 on ebay! She is a American children's wear designer who has worked all over Europe. Her designs are classic cuts done in subtle colors and prints. What I love about this set is that it reminds of the 1950's which is when capri pants were invented by the European designer Sonja de Lennart. Matching crop tops and pants were very popular then and seem to be making a comeback now in woman's fashion. This set is a great twist on a children's version and it couldn't be any cuter! What do you guys think of matching crop tops and pants for girls?
